Nigel Turner
Director of Funding and Urban & Community Projects

Nigel has been involved in urban development and recycling projects for the past 25 years, based primarily in Canada and latterly in the UK. In 1986, he earned the award of Recycler of the Year by the Vancouver GVRD and was the first independent operator to introduce the large process recycling of all manner
of products into the Vancouver area.

Over the past 10 years, Nigel has introduced his ideas into the UK and has successfully begun to increase the awareness of and participation in conservation and recycling to communities of all sizes. In addition, as a member of the Turner Foundation, he has been active in the introduction of sustainable development projects to a number of villages in Africa, including the provision
of wells and a clean water supply.

Through UDEF, it is Nigel’s intention to extend the Turner Foundation’s mission by assisting more village schools and communities and linking them to UDEF schools established around the world. Thus, the schools will be enabled to become self-sustaining and self-sufficient in the long term.

Working this way, with small steps and giant strides, UDEF will create a legacy that will last for generations to come.
