The Urban Development and Education Foundation (UDEF) has been created to support, sponsor and organise the development of global schools of excellence that make
the following commitments:
1 To serve both the local and expatriate students in carefully chosen locations.
2 To implement an international style of education that emphasises multi-cultural understanding
and global perspectives, with community service established as an important feature throughout
the schools’ entire education programmes.
3 To use the International Baccalaureate programme of study as the basis of curriculum design,
while ensuring, at the same time, that national host country and international standards in
education are being met.
4 To be committed toward furthering international understanding in a variety of ways, including
the intensive study of selected languages; that of host countries and those that are relevant to
the local and global community.
5 In addition to implementing a well-balanced and broad-based curriculum, UDEF schools will
focus on foreign languages and Information & Communications Technology (ICT) as particular areas of excellence.
6 To ensure that students receive the very best educational instruction in facilities that provide
outstanding opportunities for preparing students for life and success in the 21st century.
7 To ensure that each school supported by UDEF serves its community and actively promotes
and participates in community service projects and additional places meriting such support.
